If Saturday needs a plan, Centreville has you covered.

The Centreville Fair is in full swing today, with the kind of old-school county fair lineup that still works: animals, local food, kids’ activities, music and plenty happening around the fairgrounds.

Here’s what else is worth knowing around L&A this week.

WHAT’S HAPPENING

🎡 Centreville Fair

Saturday, September 5 | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Centreville Fairgrounds, 26 Lake Road, Centreville

The 171st Centreville Fair wraps up its Labour Day weekend run today with a full day around the fairgrounds.

There are horse and cattle shows, livestock and poultry judging, Vendor’s Alley, a car show, local musicians and the Kid Zone with inflatables and games. If you have kids with decorated bikes, there’s even a Best Decorated Bike contest at 10 a.m.

Admission: $10 for ages 13+ | 12 and under free
Kid Zone: $6 bracelet

🥕 Market Saturday

Saturday, September 5 | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Market Square, Downtown Napanee

This week’s freshly posted vendor list is particularly good on the food side.

Look for fresh sweet corn, several kinds of sourdough bread and pastries, locally grown vegetables, fresh-cut flowers, kimchi, baked treats, maple syrup and more.

A couple of the produce vendors are cash-only, so it’s worth bringing some along.

🎶 Newburgh Jamboree

Sunday, September 6 | 1 to 5 p.m.
Newburgh Community Hall, 2 Factory Street, Newburgh

A reader-submitted event we first gave you a heads-up about a couple of weeks ago is here.

The Newburgh-Camden Lions Club Jamboree brings an afternoon of live music, dancing, open mic performances, refreshments and door prizes to Newburgh Hall. Doors open at noon.

Admission: $15 per person

🚌 WORTH NOTING: MORE FREQUENT TRANSIT IN AMHERSTVIEW

A useful change for anyone who relies on Route 10 between Amherstview and Kingston.

Starting September 7, Route 10 moves to 30-minute service for most of the day, improving connections between Amherstview, the W.J. Henderson Community Centre and Cataraqui Centre.

One Labour Day wrinkle: Sunday service applies on Monday because of the holiday, so check the schedule before heading out. The enhanced schedule remains the new standard going forward.

🏡 HOUSE OF THE WEEK

121 Simcoe Street, Greater Napanee

$635,000 | 3+1 bed | 3 bath

A fresh listing that earns its spot this week for being considerably more practical than flashy.

The all-brick bungalow has three bedrooms on the main floor, including a primary suite with a walk-in closet and ensuite, plus main-floor laundry and an attached two-car garage.

Downstairs adds another bedroom, full bathroom, rec and games space, while the backyard has an oversized deck and established gardens.

Why it stood out: It’s a practical in-town pick with the kind of layout many families actually need: four bedrooms, three bathrooms, main-floor laundry, a finished lower level and a two-car garage.

Open house: Saturday, September 5 | 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

🚲 Discover L&A Ride

Saturday, September 12 | Departure at 10:30 a.m.
Starts and finishes at Bergeron Estate Winery, Adolphustown

Also next Saturday, the annual Discover L&A Ride takes cyclists on a 56-kilometre paved route along the Lake Ontario shoreline.

It’s a non-competitive ride, with five rest stops featuring local food and live music before finishing back at the winery.

Registration: $40 through September 11 at noon, while spots remain.

That’s the Loop for this week.

Enjoy the long weekend, and if you’re heading to Centreville today, maybe bring a little cash, an appetite and your best decorated bike.
