Saturday is carrying this issue.

There’s an obstacle course in the woods north of Highway 7, a particularly food-heavy market lineup in downtown Napanee and an eight-property open house tour for anyone keeping an eye on the local market.

Here’s what’s worth knowing around L&A.

WHAT’S HAPPENING

🏃 North of 7 Challenge

Saturday, August 29 | 10 a.m. onward
19 Jacques Bay Road, Cloyne

The North of 7 Challenge returns for its fifth year with a 3 km obstacle course through the Cloyne woods.

There’s a 3 km fun run, a kids challenge and the signature two-hour Endure event for anyone who wants to see how many loops they can finish. You don’t have to race to make a day of it either. The festival area will have local vendors, a Land O’Lakes Lions Club BBQ and plenty to watch.

🥕 Market Saturday

Saturday, August 29 | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Market Square, Downtown Napanee

This week’s vendor list gives food lovers plenty of reasons to stop.

Look for fresh-made Mexican sopes, huaraches and tacos, sourdough breads and pastries, gourmet mushrooms, local Peaches & Cream corn, fresh vegetables, flowers, jams and more.

A useful tip from the vendor list: a few of the produce and flower sellers are cash-only, so bringing some along is probably a good idea.

🏠 OPEN HOUSE TOUR WEEKEND

If you’re keeping an eye on the local real estate market, this weekend offers an easy way to see several very different properties in one go.

🎒 WORTH NOTING: SCHOOL STARTS WEDNESDAY

For families starting to wonder whether summer somehow disappeared overnight, here’s the date to remember:

Students with both the Limestone District School Board and Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board return on Wednesday, September 2.

Tuesday, September 1 is a PA day for both boards.

🏡 HOUSE OF THE WEEK

5243 County Road 9, Greater Napanee

$763,100 | 5 bed | 4 bath

A waterfront property on Hay Bay with enough space to make the five-bedroom headline meaningful.

The custom-built red-brick bungalow has three bedrooms on the main floor, plus another two downstairs. The finished lower level also includes a kitchenette, rec room and separate exterior access, giving the home legitimate multigenerational potential.

Outside, there’s a wraparound deck overlooking the water, a two-car garage and direct Hay Bay frontage.

Why it stood out: The combination of Hay Bay waterfront, five bedrooms and a finished lower level with its own kitchenette gives this one more flexibility than the typical cottage-style waterfront listing.

Open house: Saturday, August 29 | 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It’s also one of the eight properties featured in this weekend’s Wagar & Myatt Open House Tour.

Listed by Cathy Conrad, Broker, Wagar & Myatt Ltd., Brokerage.

That’s the Loop for this week.

Enjoy the final weekend of August, and good luck to anyone voluntarily spending Saturday climbing over obstacles in the woods.
