Local things worth knowing this week in Lennox & Addington.
The long weekend is here, and L&A is starting to feel like it has officially turned the corner into market season, patio weather, and “what should we do this weekend?” season.
And based on what readers told us recently, that is exactly the kind of thing people want more of.
Reader Poll Results
Last time we asked what kind of local events you wanted to see more often, and the answer was pretty clear: food, markets and festivals led the way, followed by workshops, community programs, family-friendly events, and live music.
So this week, we’re leaning into exactly that: local markets, a museum stop, free outdoor music, a helpful long-weekend weather check, and a few timely local notes.
Thanks to everyone who voted. It helps shape what gets included here each week.
What’s Happening This Week
The Bath Sunday Market is back for the season, bringing local vendors and a lively market setup to the heart of Bath. It is a good long-weekend stop if you want a short stroll, something local, and an excuse to get out without making a whole day of it.
📅 Sunday, May 17
🕙 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
📍 Centennial Park North, 329 Main St., Bath
Makers at the Mill Market starts this Sunday at Babcock Mill in Odessa. The setting alone makes this one worth keeping on your radar this season, especially if readers keep voting for more markets and local vendor events.
📅 Sunday, May 17
🕚 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
📍 Babcock Mill, 100 Bridge St., Odessa
Free outdoor music is coming back to Amherstview. The first TuNes Day in the Township concert of the season features Shaylyn Kickin’ It Country Show Band at Loyalist Park on Wednesday evening. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Local Pick of the Week
The Bath Museum & Visitor Centre has reopened for the 2026 summer season and is open through August 23. Admission is by donation, and the museum is self-guided, with tours available Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
It is one of those easy local stops that can be as quick or as slow as you want. Good for a rainy afternoon, a Sunday drive, or proving to visiting family that yes, there is more to do here than “grab coffee and see where the road goes.”
📍 434 Main St., Bath
Long Weekend Weather Watch
The long weekend looks mostly workable around Greater Napanee, with Saturday looking like the main “keep an eye on the sky” day and Sunday/Monday shaping up better for markets, walks, yard work, and patio time.
Check the forecast before heading out, especially if you are planning around outdoor events.
Good to Know
Starting May 19, Greater Napanee residents can sign up to receive service updates by email, including notices about garbage collection delays, road closures, water main breaks, weather alerts, and emergency notifications.
This is the kind of thing you sign up for once, then feel smart about later when something actually affects your street.
House of the Week
63 River Road, Greater Napanee
$675,000
3+1 bed • 2 bath
This week’s pick is a creek-front, water-view bungalow on the edge of Napanee, listed at $675,000. It offers four bedrooms, two bathrooms, sits on just under half an acre, and has one feature you do not see every day at this price point: an indoor pool.
For anyone watching the local market, this is the type of listing worth comparing against both in-town family homes and rural-edge properties. It is not fully “hide from the world” rural, but with water views, a quieter setting, and an indoor pool, it has more personality than the average listing.
Quick Poll
Since food, markets and festivals led last week’s poll, here’s a quick follow-up to help shape what we feature this summer.
What would make you most likely to check out a local market?
Coming Up Soon
Loyalist Township has the Lilac Forest Walkabout listed for Saturday, May 23 from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM. If you are looking ahead to next weekend, this one may be worth keeping on the calendar.
📅 Saturday, May 23
🕚 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM
A reader shared a local fundraiser coming up in Newburgh later this month as part of the Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 31 at Newburgh Community Hall and will include a charity BBQ, raffles and prizes, a vendor market, and more.
We’ll share more details in next week’s edition, but it is a meaningful local event to keep on the calendar if you want to support a cause that helps provide specially trained dog guides to Canadians living with disabilities.
📅 Sunday, May 31
🕙 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
📍 Newburgh Community Hall, 2 Factory Street, Newburgh
That’s it for this week.
Enjoy the long weekend, support something local if you can, and maybe take the scenic route once. Around here, that usually only adds seven minutes and improves the mood by at least 40%.
