Follow the country roads this weekend

Good afternoon, L&A!

More than 40 artisans are sharing their work around Stone Mills this weekend, and the county museum has a free Saturday plan for young dancers. We’ve also found a Newburgh home reached by a wooden footbridge, plus local Remembrance Day services to keep on your calendar for Wednesday.

IN THIS WEEK’S LOOP

  • A self-guided weekend of handmade finds

  • Free dancing and books for young readers

  • An 1864 mill turned riverside home

  • Remembrance Day services and Bath’s festive evening

WHAT’S HAPPENING

Take the country roads to a handmade find

STONE MILLS · SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7 & SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8
Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. · Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Free self-guided tour

The Artisans’ Christmas Tour in the Country brings together more than 40 local makers across 19 stops, from Moscow and Colebrook to Yarker, Camden East and Centreville. You’ll find pottery, woodwork, candles, quilts and more, with some artists welcoming visitors into their own studios.

Choose a few stops instead of trying to cover every road. Moscow’s Friends Meeting House has a Saturday breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. for a free-will offering, while Yarker’s Riverside United Church is a lunch stop both days.

Church stops have washrooms, and there’s an ATM at Yarker Lucky Dollar.

Built in 1864 as Hooper’s Mill, this stone home sits beside the Napanee River with a waterfall by the entrance. Inside are original pine floors, exposed beams, studios and workshop space. The three-bedroom total includes a one-bedroom in-law suite on the ground level.

The listing includes three separately deeded parcels and approximately 479 feet of river frontage.

Why it stood out: The footbridge is a memorable welcome, and the studios and workshop offer room for creative projects.

WORTH A QUICK NOTE

Plan around Tuesday’s road closure

The Switzerville Road–Newburgh Road intersection will be closed Tuesday, November 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for culvert replacement. Traffic cannot pass through. Bad weather would move the work to Wednesday, November 11.
