Pumpkins, a night market & a home with history

Hello, L&A!

A pumpkin patch, an evening market or a good scare? There are a few ways to spend this October weekend close to home. We’ve also got a $3 museum outing for Tuesday, news for anyone hoping to squeeze in another Bon Echo visit, and a House of the Week with quite a past.

IN THIS WEEK’S LOOP

  • A night market, pumpkins and Halloween fun

  • Bon Echo’s season is getting longer

  • A $3 museum evening on Tuesday

  • A converted church for House of the Week

WHAT’S HAPPENING

A night at Hollow’s Eve in Newburgh

NEWBURGH · SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17
3 to 9 p.m. · 425 Main Street
Free admission

Newburgh’s Hollow Square Market wraps up its season with 45-plus local vendors, live music and a performance by the Cauldron Sisters. There’s a food truck and beer garden too, so you can turn a browse into an evening out.

If you can, bring a donation for the market’s toiletry drive. A small addition to the shopping list can help neighbours through local community organizations.

Pumpkin Festival at Wynn Farms

GREATER NAPANEE · OCTOBER 17 AND 18
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. · 8191 and 9592 Highway 33

If your front step is still missing its pumpkin, this could be the weekend to fix that. Both Wynn Farms locations have pumpkin picking and corn mazes, and one maze ticket covers both mazes this weekend.

Head to the main farm at 8191 Highway 33 for pumpkin painting and cotton candy. Kids’ festival wristbands are $14.16 plus tax and include a small pre-picked pumpkin, painting, cotton candy and maze admission. Regular maze admission for ages 13 and up is $10.62 plus tax.

A Saturday scare for a local cause

ENTERPRISE · SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17
6 to 9 p.m. · Enterprise Community Hall
Minimum $5 donation plus a food bank item

Enterprise’s Zombie Walk brings a Field of Screams, Trail of Terror and a new Path of Panic to the village, with proceeds supporting the New Legacy Centre Food Bank in Stone Mills.

Children under 12 must come with an adult. Arrive earlier if you’d prefer more daylight, or later if you’re in it for the full after-dark experience.

This Saturday: The Big Art Splash

NAPANEE · SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. · Best & Bash Arena
16 McPherson Drive · Free admission

The art show we flagged last week is here. Browse paintings, fibre art, jewellery and more, meet local artists, and look for the separate donation table supporting Morningstar Mission.

HIDDEN LOCAL FIND

Bon Echo’s season is getting longer

There’s still time for another Bon Echo day. Ontario Parks has extended the park’s 2026 season through December 13, including day use, camping and roofed accommodation.

If you want to include the Visitor Centre or Greystones Gift Shoppe and Cafe, go this weekend: both close for the season on October 18.

Check the available facilities before making plans. The Mazinaw campground water system closes after October 18, while the heated Bon Echo Lake comfort station remains available during the extended season.

HOUSE OF THE WEEK

$815,000 · 2 beds · 3 baths

This converted 1875 church pairs stone walls and a lofty main living area with a screened porch, separate-entry in-law suite and heated two-car garage. There’s one bedroom in the main home and one in the suite.

Why it stood out: Stained-glass windows and a loft overlooking the main living area make the church-to-home transformation worth a closer look.
