Good morning, L&A!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! There are monster trucks at the Napanee Fairgrounds today, a guided look at the stars tonight and a Sunday market stop in Bath if you’re looking to get out between family meals.

We’ve also got live music, a scenic-drive idea and a Bath bungalow overlooking a pond and golf course. Plus, a free local art show to put on next weekend’s calendar.

WHAT’S HAPPENING

🚙 Monster trucks roll into Napanee

Saturday, October 10 | Shows at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Napanee Fairgrounds, 180 York Street, Napanee

Big wheels, jumps and car-crushing action are coming to the fairgrounds as Monster Trucks All Out makes its first Napanee stop.

There are two shows to choose from, with pre-show pit parties offering a closer look at the trucks and a chance to meet the drivers. Check the ticket options for entry times and what’s included.

Admission: Paid. Check current prices and availability before heading over.

✨ Tonight: a guided look at the stars

Saturday, October 10 | 7:30 to 9 p.m., weather permitting
L&A Dark Sky Viewing Area, 7980 County Road 41, Erinsville | Free

The stargazing evening we flagged last week is here. A laser-guided tour will help you find your way around the night sky, with the possibility of a look through a telescope too.

It’s an approachable outing for beginners. Bring a warm layer and check the organizer’s registration link and viewing-condition updates before making the drive.

🧺 A Thanksgiving weekend stop in Bath

Sunday, October 11 | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Centennial Park North, 329 Main Street, Bath

Bath’s Sunday market continues through October, bringing local growers, food producers and artisans together in the village.

Browse seasonal produce, bread, preserves and handmade goods, or make it a quick stop for something to bring to the Thanksgiving table.

🎶 Two chances to catch live music in Napanee

Sunday, October 11 | 5 to 7 p.m.
The Loaf N’ Ale, 25 Dundas Street East

Napanee’s Kim Pollard is scheduled for a Sunday evening set downtown. If your family dinner is on Monday, this could be an easy way to round out the weekend.

Friday, October 16 | 6 to 9:30 p.m.
The Waterfront River Pub & Terrace, 22 Water Street West

Looking ahead to Friday, acoustic musician Erick Turnbull is on the schedule at the Waterfront.

WORTH NOTING

🍂 Take the scenic way home

If a drive suits your long weekend better than a scheduled event, Naturally L&A has a mapped fall-colour route through the southern part of the county.

It takes in stretches of County Road 8, South Shore Road, Loyalist Parkway, Maple Road and Switzerville Road, with places to stop along the way. Finkle’s Shore Park in Bath is one option for stretching your legs by the water.

Pick a section rather than committing to the whole route. Switzerville Road is mainly gravel, so take it slowly and watch for residents.

🏡 HOUSE OF THE WEEK

If your ideal morning starts with coffee and a view, this Bath bungalow is worth a look. A large deck overlooks the landscaped yard, a pond and the golf course.

Inside, the main floor has an updated kitchen and a two-sided gas fireplace. The finished lower level adds a family room, third bedroom and full bathroom.

Why it stood out: The setting, with plenty of room to enjoy it outdoors. Laundry is downstairs, a detail to consider if you’re looking for entirely single-level living.
